What to Expect

We can't wait to meet you!

Visiting a new church can make some people nervous because they just have no idea what it’s going to be like. We know that you may have several questions about what to expect when visiting Henderson, so we’ve tried to answer some of those potential questions below. Of course, if you have a question that we haven’t answered here, you can fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page, and we’ll get back with you promptly.

FAQs

What kind of church are you?

We are a Southern Baptist church. If you’d like to read more about our ministry affiliations and partnerships, you can find them by clicking here.

What should I wear?

Man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart. – 1 Samuel 16:7

At Henderson, we try to be more concerned with the heart than with the outward appearance. Some men wear a coat and tie and some ladies wear dresses, while others wear blue jeans. Some people wear dress shoes, and others wear boots or tennis shoes. In short, feel free to dress however you feel comfortable!

What should I expect before, during, and after a service?

When you arrive at Henderson, you should expect to be greeted warmly. Once the service starts, we sing worshipful music and hear a relevant, Bible-saturated message. Our worship service lasts around an hour.

When the service is over, our folks are so friendly that they’ve been known to stick around and talk for a while. That’s a great time to get to know people!

What is available for my children?

We know that your children are your priority, and we want you to know that they are our priority as well! We value the importance of giving children opportunities to learn in age-appropriate ways AND   to interact with older people. During Sunday School, our kids learn memory verses alongside students and adults. It’s really fun, and if you’ve never seen it, you should try it!

We have Children’s Church during our Sunday morning worship service. Children’s Church is for kids aged 3 years old to 2nd grade. They join us in the sanctuary to participate in singing and then are dismissed to the children’s area where volunteers lead them in an age-appropriate time of Bible-learning, singing, and fun.

On Sunday nights, our kids have their own class for Bible study and fun. And on Wednesday nights, the kids join in with everyone in Prayer Meeting. We include them in the time of prayer and encourage them to participate by stating prayer requests and learning from students and adults the value of corporate prayer.

Nursery is available for littlest ones during our Sunday morning service, and any time your child is in a nursery or classroom with one of our volunteers, you can rest assured that those volunteers have been screened and trained on appropriate interactions with children. We do everything in our power to provide a safe and fun environment where kids can learn more about Jesus.

Will I be expected to give?

Guests are welcome to give to help support the mission of our church, but you are by no means required or expected to give.
